@josh_hammer writes a good piece in @firstthingsmag, and it’s worth your time. While I agree with the larger point he and others are making about the p*rn debate, I’m not fully on board for 2 basic reasons: firstthings.com/web-exclusives…
(1) Nobody has really defined what they mean by the p*rn they want to ban. If it’s an “obvious case” I’d fully support more aggressive prosecutions. But where is the line to be drawn?
(2) The country and the society is so far gone, it really doesn’t matter anymore. You can’t even win on Drag Queen Story Time and you’re gonna go after the p*rn industry? Get outta here.
Now if people want to create and grow a movement of men and women who reject p*rn and other destructive, soul-killing and life-wasting nonsense like video games—and dedicate themselves to real-life things or beautiful things—I’m completely supportive.
That is actually happening, I think, and it’s cause for the only bit of optimism I have about the future of this civilization (which has collapsed morally and intellectually already, but it’s remnants are still teetering along).
