Pretty sure it's an OSHA violation to put a rabbit hole like this in the middle of a story without a warning sign: "the Reagan administration’s escalating drug war may have added a level of urgency to [Coke's] long-range planning by threatening Peruvian coca production."
I mean: Coke had a monopoly on Peruvian coca as late as 2014??? Which suppressed the entire Peruvian economy??? And saw the failure of New Coke as being sure to the absence of coca leaf extract???
