Hi Twitter. I have a thread about what I've been seeing and experiencing recently in the wake of our reporting on Hate.

(Updates on a Proud Boy podcast/radio show & anti-Semites.)

I'd like to begin with an old Spanish saying:

"Dime con quién andas, y te diré quién eres." 1/

The saying essentially means, "Tell me who you hang out with/walk with and I'll tell you who you are."

I heard this a lot growing up from my mom and my grandma.

I've been thinking about this saying a lot lately. 2/

The Proud Boys, especially a local man who runs a podcast, claim they don't hang out with white supremacists. My footage at a September protest shows them posing with men in black. I shared this during our reporting on Samuel Cordova (far left with hat and sunglasses). 3/

In the center are two men. The one below is a Proud Boy named Joshua Michael. The man in the helmet is a man by the name of Josh Yeakel. Who are they? 4/

Josh Yeakel is a local anti-Semite. Here he is, far left, in my footage standing next to another unidentified Proud Boy. He did something on my Facebook page I'm going to share with a disclaimer in the next tweet. Warning - you will likely find it offensive. 6/

He photoshopped my image on some horrible elements. 7/

I've debated about sharing this and putting Yeakel's name out there. I don't want to give him a platform, however I do think it's important we expose this hate in Colorado. This man feels bold to behave this way. This is his real name. This is why we are reporting on hate. 8/

In our reporting, Proud Boy Louie Huey admitted white supremacists will show up to the same protests. “They’ve been at rallies that we’ve been at. But that doesn’t mean that we hang out….. we both have a common enemy at the time. Doesn’t mean we support their ideas," he said. 9/

Which brings me to why I've been thinking about that old Spanish saying:

"Dime con quién andas, y te diré quién eres." 10/

Speaking of Louie Huey, let's go back to that announcement his podcast co-host made recently, claiming they were going to get a show on @710KNUS. Here's my initial thread linking to announcement along w/ a station employee who refuted that claim. 11/

@710KNUS This morning I spoke again with the GM @710KNUS who is keeping to his "no comment" response. Liberty Logan and Louie made another video stream. They're not happy with my reporting, of course. Here's part of that stream with Logan implying KNUS felt Antifa pressure. 12/

@710KNUS Huey seemed intoxicated during their stream and admitted to drinking beer. Here's clips I edited from that stream. These dudes claim I treated them unfairly during my reporting. They're angry I didn't play my entire interview with Huey. 13/

@710KNUS We didn't play the entire 17 minute interview (Huey claims it was 30 min) because:

1) Of time
2) We are not a platform to propagate Proud Boy philosophy

And yes I knew he was recording our interview. I've been doing this for 20 years. I'm not naive. 14/

@710KNUS In their recent stream, Logan claims I deleted tweets and edited our website in the wake of them apparently calling me out.
Nothing was deleted. Nothing was edited.
Word of advice when you speak before a mass audience.

1) Be honest and truthful
2) Don't be drunk

@710KNUS I'm not sure I'll do much more reporting that specifically mentions Huey and co-host. I don't want to give them any credence...and it seems clear, neither did KNUS. I'm still doing research on hate. Thanks for following my work and for supporting local journalism. 16/16
