Nominalist ontologies strive to be ontologies of only particulars. This means they are self-defeating—no one can SAY what he claims to BELIEVE. The moment one speaks, one enters λόγος, the element of universality.
One cannot, after all, SAY a particular.
“The only things that exist are particulars” is a sentence chock-full of universals.

Seriously, absolutely NO ONE takes this “who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?” line seriously. If you catch your husband in bed with another woman and he says this and MEANS IT—divorce him. It’s no more convincing from atheists.
Put another way, EVERY “reason” for doubt or disbelief by any atheist MIGHT BE the result of DELUSION.

So what epistemic force does this “might be” have?

None.

It’s the epistemological equivalent of thinking “But maybe not!” is a refutation of anything.

This is of course an untruth.

God is the ground of logic, indeed, God is the Λόγος itself.

Aristotle’s logic has nothing to do with the “axiomitasion” [axiomatization, he meant] of observed experience. Aristotle is not an empiricist.
Mat is wrong in his thesis.

Mat is wrong philosophically.

Mat is wrong theologically.

Summa Summarum: Mat is wrong.
He’s even wrong mathematically, which is odd, since he claims to BE a mathematician.

A definition locates a being within Being. It says what being it is, by means of genus and specific difference. But not everything has this ontological structure. In particular, lacking the structure of a being within Being are: Being itself, nothingness, God
Being is no more a being within Being than Space itself is a space located within Space. Asking for a definition of God is like asking for the location of Space, on the ground that Space must, after all, be located somewhere in Space!

Or asking at what time Time may he found.
As Heidegger notes, the fact that Being cannot be defined in no way makes the question of Being go away. Rather, it makes it more acute.
