The long-term solution to this is data-local computing + federated machine learning + homomorphic encryption.

Store the data locally, compute in a privacy preserving way.

Make it so that large centralized databases of sensitive data can’t be leaked to anyone, including the NYT.

@cz_binance @VitalikButerin As recent motivation, YouTube has been caught censoring completely unobjectionable crypto videos, and Google has taken MetaMask down from the Android store.

Because platforms don't "just" censor speech. They have a long history of censoring competing technologies.
@cz_binance @VitalikButerin So the will to build decentralized media is now there.

And a strong review article on tech for decentralized social media would help guide the way.

Sometimes changing direction is the right answer. But sometimes you just need to persist.

How to balance these?

One approach is bounded commitment.

List options, choose your best one, and commit for a predetermined period of time — like a week or a month. Then revisit.
This is similar to how sprints work in agile, or balancing depth vs breadth first search, or strategies for solving K-armed bandit problems.
