2/7 No definition of “population” or “race” in essay or in majority of sources cited to support the argument.
3/7 “Groups”, “ethnic groups”, “racial groups”, “populations”, “geographical populations” “races” are NOT the same thing but the terms are used interchangeably and variably throughout.
4/7 Such lack of attention to definitions and the diversity of measurements is not philosophically or scientifically sound. Clear and consistent definitions of samples and traits measured and compared are critical for scientific assessment.
5/7 Article is also premised on the G + E= P model…one that we know is overly simplistic even for most basic morphological traits, and even more so for complex cognitive, developmental and experiential measures.
6/7 I do agree with the premise in the essay. But the examples used defeat the key point: science should be free and open, but it should also be methodologically sound.
