IRL, I crossed paths with someone who doesn't think Kamala Harris has enough "experience" to be president. When I ticked off Kamala's resume, he seemed genuinely surprised to find out that US Senator was Harris' THIRD elected position...

Right now O'Rourke is third in some polls and third in fundraising, but I don’t expect him to last. As I told Bill Finnegan of The New Yorker at the event, I think Beto is a flash in the pan and an unserious person
I can’t see O’Rourke dealing credibly with Russia or China and I certainly don’t see him as Commander in Chief and leader of the free world even if he exceeded expectations when he moved from the El Paso City Council to the House of Representatives.

In other words, if Americans do not elect Beto as their next President, the world may self-destruct. Clearly, this candidate is a total clown. His political experience is minimal, consisting of six years on the El Paso City Council and six years as a United States Representative.

I'm trying to be open-minded and more positive, and I definitely don't believe people need to wait for "their turn" and should run when they want.

With that, I'm having a tough time not feeling put off - if not even offended - by notion of Beto running for President. 1/
And it's weird for me because absolutely believe in the next generation running for office. And I want to vote for a 40-something or 50-something for President (and I will in the primaries).

Yet, somehow...Beto for POTUS rubs me the wrong way. Best I can tell, here's why: 2/
First of all, no, I don't think a former El Paso City Council member and 3-term Congressman is sufficient experience for President.

I'm trying to square this with my support in 2008 for Obama, who was a first-term US Senator and a multi-term state legislator.
