I seem to recall Merrick Garland getting the same treatment as every prior Supreme Court nominee for 225+ years

McConnell broke the Senate, and now he's shocked—shocked, I say!—everyone's not playing by Marquess of Queensberry rules.

Sorry for the language, but screw this guy. When he blocked Garland—making history—everyone said, "Don't do this—there'll be repercussions!" He just laughed.
There's no reason now for any Democrat to trust Mitch McConnell—ever.

So any situation requiring blind trust of McConnell—such as McConnell saying Democrats should trust that the Senate will take up the question of impeachment witnesses without a prior agreement—is a nonstarter.
