Two political things I noticed while avoiding politics nearly entirely on holiday.
First, vaping. Several different people, from different countries and ages, instantly said either 'that'll kill you, or 'that's worse for you than smoking'.
Felt like the scare stories had properly permeated. Tragically enough, two of them were smokers and took the stories as vindication for their decision not to switch.
Second: 'The media aren't reporting it'. Not just a thing people say online. It was part of nearly every vaguely political conversation I had, on any topic, with people of every age. Usually just before they told me about something they'd heard on the media.
Made me want to tear what's left of my fucking hair out.
