in Taylor Hackford's seat: sitting between Helen Mirren & Meryl Streep. PARASITE got the biggest applause, didn't it? Also: Beyoncé & Jay-Z didn't take their seats until way late into the show. But stayed when she lost & smiled graciously upon Elton's win... And I know we are all
supposed to hate Ellen DeGeneres these days. But she looked great & Kate McKinnon's speech for her was lovely. Loved Ewan McGregor's white shoes, btw. Weirdest presenter pairing: Amy Poehler & Taylor Swift, followed by Pierce Brosnan & Will Ferrell. Also: the Brosnan sons were
kind of cute. When Patty Arquette won, Toni Collette immediately needed a refill of champagne. Also, Meryl Streep forced an awkward hug upon Eddie Murphy! Loved the Love Boat-interaction between Hanks & Kathy Bates. And obviously the speeches by Arquette, Williams & also Phoenix.
Speaking of Michelle Williams: what was the blue thing on her shoulder??? And did Brad Pitt actually say "holy moly"? Oh, and Renée really is leaning heavily into the comeback narrative, isn't she? Salma Hayek specifically hugging Stellan Skarsgard made me IMDB them: had totally
forgotten that they were in TIMECODE together... Favorite couple, once again: Lulu Wang & Barry Jenkins. Oh, and I haven't looked it up yet. But Hildur Guðnadóttir must be the first female composer to win, right?!
