Biden, flawed as he is, has led the Dem field since joining the race, AND has a huge lead w/ black voters. The question shouldn't just be WHY he has the lead but WHY Sanders/ Warren/Pete haven't been able to pry black folks away from him. That's the question few want to answer
After Trump black voters don't TRUST white Democrats. They saw a nation flip the scrip and elect a white nationalist president as a temper tantrum after the first black one. Black voters are the most strategic voters in America and they see what's going on for 2020
Nobody in their right mind thinks Biden is the BEST candidate. Stumbles in debates, gaffes etc. But he's still leading. That is more an indictment of Warren/Sanders/Pete than it is about Biden's own weaknesses. Nobody wants to admit that part
Dems are fond of pointing out how bad a candidate Hillary was in 2016 "She couldn't even beat Trump." Well she did by 3 million votes. But shouldn't that same argument apply to 2020? Why aren't Sanders/Warren/Buttigieg wiping the floor with Biden if he's such a flawed candidate?
Sanders has 5 years as a high profile public figure; can't break 20% of black voters. That's a problem. It's no longer about not knowing him, or misinformation. He hasn't done it. You aren't winning in 2020 if you can't get over 20% of the black vote. Young or old doesn't matter
Warren was in the Obama administration, has a nice progressive record. SHE averages only about 13% of the black vote. You can't win with those numbers either. We don't even need to talk about Buttigieg.
Not ONE of these campaigns can explain why they are failing so spectacularly with the single most important constituency of the Democratic Party. Not one of these candidates can explain why it is they can't take down a candidate as obviously flawed as Biden.
My point is this: Sanders/Warren/Buttigieg can organize raise money and fight all they want. Unless or until they can crack the Black voter code they aren't going anywhere. And attacking the media, politicians or voters won't change that fact.
