Doing the "Forgotten Genocides" tweet series has really driven home what a turbulent, violent, brutal decade the 1970s were, all over the world. That doesn't seem like something that's popularly known.
It makes me think of Peter Turchin's theory that a decade unrest comes every 50 years. That cycle is almost certainly overfit, and he was just talking about the Anglosphere, but maybe there's something to it and maybe we're heading into another Terrible Decade right now.
