A note from all editors to all writers:

1. Read your work out loud before you send it to us. Do you sound like a robot? An academic giving a presentation to fellow academics? Fix it.

2. Look for typos. PLEASE look for typos. Do not rely on your spellchecker to alert you.
3. Unless you are a seasoned writer (writing paid work for years), have a friend or family member read your work before you send it in. They will catch the goofy errors that make you look incompetent that you may have missed.

4. Send only your best work.
I will not accept pitches again from people whose work took me hours and hours to spellcheck and edit for clarity.

I'm not trying to be harsh, but it doesn't make financial sake. If we are paying you (even if it's not a ton) I can't afford to pay myself to also do your job.

I'm done entertaining anonymous Twitter users & their disingenuous, bigoted attempts at conversation.

Do they not realize we mute or block them? Or, when things get wild, turn on the quality filter?

They spend all this time trolling us, and we just *CLICK* and they disappear!
In the past, I've tried to always give people a chance, to listen and be open-minded. This has bitten me in the ass many times, but I'd rather be naive than bitter and shut-down.

But these guys just want to see how far they can push you until you snap. They get power from that.
And I'm just not interested in being the object of their perverted, pathetic desire to feel validated by making other people mad.

Pathetic little weirdos.

So I hate to join MRA talking points but this person is not wrong.

Teaching our little girls to say trashy things about boys is not the road to equality.

Here's why:
1. She may someday really want a boyfriend and feel shamed for her desire - instead of guided by her family in how to have a healthy relationship. We don't need more shame, we need less!

2. No human is a waste of time. Saying this to your brother is "cute" but also cruel.
3. You are the parents of all your kids, regardless of gender. Your job is to build their self-confidence, pride in who they are, and teach them respect and compassion for others.

Teaching one to disrespect the other does the opposite of this on all points.

Anti-Semitic attack are on the rise.

Parents of non-Jewish kids, what have you told your kids about anti-Semitism? It's time to talk regularly about what Jewish people have gone through historically, why they're often a target, and review words & phrases that are inappropriate.
Tell them why "positive stereotypes" are dangerous and how these stereotypes were used to make Jews a target by Nazis.

White supremacists are doing what Nazis did back then - blaming Jews for the economic problems of others.

Talk to your kids before white supremacists do!
People were suffering after WWI and Hitler knew the suffering was a good way to get people to hate Jewish people. It worked.

Of course, German suffering wasn't Jews' fault! They were suffering, too.

But ppl believed it. They wanted a scapegoat.

Katsuki sits with the sleeping toddler in his lap while Jirou takes attendance of the other kiddos. He’s never felt this kind of affection towards any of the kids, and honestly, it kind of scares him.

Summers in Detroit are too fucking hot, Hank thinks, on a particularly miserable, humid July night. He remembers them being hot and miserable when he was a kid, especially that summer the a/c broke and his parents couldn't afford to fix it for a month. He'd felt like he was
melting every night as he tried to sleep, but he knows it's even hotter now. Just a bit warmer, every year.
Still, Sumo needs to go out; he does better with a real walk at night, not just a snuffle around the yard.
Hank does too, he's realized.
So: as the summer progresses,
Hank takes him for walks later and later until he's clipping on his leash no earlier than 9:30, when the sun's at least mostly down. It's pitch black by the time he's far from home, but Hank finds that he likes being out that late. Sometimes the fireflies are still out then, too.

As the editor in chief of ProPublica, I’m always telling reporters to read their work out loud. As an experiment, I tried that with today’s rough transcript of President Trump’s phone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. The results are illuminating.
Trump begins by praising Zelenskyy for doing a “terrific job,’’ in winning his election. Zelenskyy replies with a volley of the sort of shameless flattery Trump is known to love.
“You are absolutely right Mr. President. We did win big and worked hard for this. We worked a lot but I would like to confess to you that I had an opportunity to learn from you. We used quite a few of your skills and knowledge and were able to use it as an example’’

Trump begrudgingly "caved" due to the backlash.

But, as it was all about holding the children hostage to get his demands...the order still pressures Congress to act quickly to avert the problems it delays and creates.
1. KEEPS FAMILIES TOGETHER...WITH BIG CAVEATS.

While the DOJ will continue to prosecute ALL adults crossing the border illegally, it keeps families together but only "where appropriate and consistent with law and available resources."

Leaves flexibility.
2. KEEPS FAMILIES W/ DHS.

Parents can stay with their children in detention with DHS, but the catch is only to the "extent permitted by law and subject to the availability of appropriations."

BIG CAVEAT...THE FLORES AGREEMENT PREVENTS CHILDREN FROM BEING DETAINED AFTER 20 DAYS.
