3. Unless you are a seasoned writer (writing paid work for years), have a friend or family member read your work before you send it in. They will catch the goofy errors that make you look incompetent that you may have missed.

I will not accept pitches again from people whose work took me hours and hours to spellcheck and edit for clarity.
I'm not trying to be harsh, but it doesn't make financial sake. If we are paying you (even if it's not a ton) I can't afford to pay myself to also do your job.
