When you foster a system of bad faith, zero-sum, self-interested politics you get Hugh Hewitt. Watching hacks who treat the country like it’s entire purpose is to serve and entertain them should infuriate everyone, and shame on anyone who gives him a platform or credence.
You’ve got people dying, families struggling, infrastructure and education crumbling, and meanwhile an entire generation of privileged white men are having the time of their lives treating the world like it’s something to yuck it up over and strategize at a DC cocktail party.
And that’s why these “political” shows are so frustrating. They’re not actually about politics, they’re about simulating what DC insiders gossip about when the cameras are off. It’s not informative, it’s not useful, it’s one giant ego stroke that everyone can profit from.
And these shows feature pundits who are mostly privileged legacies who’ve been wrong about most everything and have a proven track record of lying. And yet, they keep getting on our TVs and singing the same song and causing the same damage. It’s part of why we’re in this crisis.
America has been turned into the pundit’s class cocktail hour and their buffoonery enables the ultimate buffoon in Donald Trump to come and make a giant scene. Now we’re all stuck listening to them gossip in the corners about it. Just as disgusting as it gets.
Turn it off. Refuse to watch this garbage. Demand better and give your time to serious people who understand how dangerous this time is and that real lives are at stake. We have to just reject this madness completely.
