In addition to the things he notes here, the memoirs written by women astronauts are all out of print.

I was looking for one and realized that only books by women astronauts still in print are children's books.
This is a list of books by astronauts.

I started trying to categorize this but didn't finish the spreadsheet.

I'd wanted to do was to see if my hunch was right. Does the gender imbalance have an additional publishing effect?

Do you want to watch a spacewalk?

Astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir are working outside the station again on this maintenance spacewalk to replace batteries while the male astronauts stay inside.
You'll hear lots of reading of serial numbers today so that everyone can confirm that they're talking about the same thing. Think of it like telling someone how to follow IKEA instructions via a phone.

Except they are in space.
You can see how big these batteries are as they move this one out. Even though it is weightless, it still has the same mass it has on Earth.

When they say "You have the battery" "I have the battery" that's partly to ensure that there's no point where it is out of control.

Who wants to watch a spacewalk with me?

Today astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch are replacing batteries outside the ISS while the male astronauts keep the homefires burning inside the station.
When they say "soft dock" what that means is that they are placing the battery in preparation for locking it down with bolts.
As they work, you can see the variety of tethers that they have. When they transfer a tool from one astronaut to the other, it also involves transferring the tether.

These aren't passed simultaneously to reduce the risk of losing a tool.

With the drums, she's maintaining height, focus, and keeping the beat, with a single airplane control in one hand sans gimmicks.

What do I mean by "gimmick?"

Specialty control, trick control, etc... This is a control that's not standard but is designed to produce a specific movement.

That's what's going on with the guitars.

Still impressive manipulation, but the control is doing part of the work.
With the drums, that is all the puppeteer.

You know those toy ostrich marionettes? That's essentially what she has in her hand. The stringing is different, but it's all about her knowing EXACTLY where her hand is and exquisite control.

1. "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" by Michael Wolff. Yes, I hate-read this book in a matter of days. Problematically, Bannon comes across as an articulate, insightful source and not an arch nationalist parasite. Will Wolff's depiction be hagiography in the future?
