I wonder.

Can a Senator's home state prosecute them for crimes - like perjury - committed outside the state's physical boundaries

For example, like acts committed while "representing" the people of that state?
I'd assume that, as the offices they hold technically belong to the State they represent, and they're only the temporary officeholders, it could be considered local jurisdiction under some circumstances.

If not, I suggest states pass such legislation now.
Ensure that senators face real consequences if they violate the oath they've sworn to impartial justice...

And if they violate that oath by preventing witnesses from testifying at the Impeachment trial...
the senate sergeant-at-arms would be forced to arrest them and return them home to stand trial, or permit other law enforcement officers to do the same - so long as it's not a civil arrest.

And, of course, there is no requirement for anything other than a quorum of senators to be present for an impeachment conviction, and for two thirds of those *present* to vote to convict.
Now, I'm not suggesting this be made a threat to force compliance on an everyday basis... but when there is a foreign power blackmailing a representative into violating their oath of office, all options need to be considered as on the table.

And those @gop senators need to be reminded that Putin et al aren't the only ones who can hold them accountable.

Especially in states with recently elected Democratic governors who will sign any bills into law necessary to prevent kompromat-induced treason.
And perjury is bad; whatever abhorrent or criminal behaviour is being held over their heads is worse...

but Treason is punishable by death.

And one thing that came out of the DNC suit: Russia stated what they did in 2015-2016 were acts of war.

So, yeah. We're going there.
