The story of state capture keeps writing itself.

[A New Dawn Thread]
Soon after the unity vote of DD Mabuza secured Cyril Ramaphosa the ANC Presidency in Nasrec, there were calls from journalists, liberals, NGOs & other quarters for Jacob Zuma to fall.

Soon the story changed to ensuring JZ doesn't deliver the Feb 2018 State of the Nation Address.
The ANC NEC resolved to recall Zuma and he reluctantly resigned on valentines day in 2018.

Cyril was elected president of SA on 15 February 2018.

The media, NGOs and many other people were ecstatic to have a president who was not Jacob Zuma
President Ramaphosa delivered a State of the Nation Address speech meant to have been delivered by JZ to loud cheers and a standing ovation.

The famous Thuma Mina tagline became his trademark and this really is where things went south.

Who was Cyril sending? Who sent him?
Once the new president was in office the process of cleaning the house was now on the roll.

Matshela Koko who had acted at CEO of state electricity utility Eskom was illegally expelled by Ramaphosa govt, but later resigned after the Labour Court had reinstated him.
Mr Tito Mboweni became minister of finance. He is a former governor of the South African Reserve Bank who joined Goldman Sachs as advisor.

He also sat on board of publicly listed Nampak.
In January 2020, the very Goldman Sachs that Minister Mboweni advised was gifted a banking license by the South African Reserve Bank which reports to the very minister.

Goldman Sachs offering includes providing debt to capital constrained companies.

Connect the dots...
During the time when a SARS Commissioner was being recruited, the minister of finance constituted a panel that included his perceived inner circle. There were accusations of conflict of interest but let's focus on the Nampak person for now.
After the new CEO of Eskom Phakamani Hadebe struggled with the role, he resigned citing health reasons.

Jabu Mabuza was appointed Acting CEO and Executive chairman. His brother in law is in the coal business while his blind trust provides maintenance to a third of Eskom plants
A new CEO of Eskom was appointed. He happened to be former CEO of Nampak, the very company where Minister Mboweni was Board Chairman.

Many complained about the dismal performance of De Ruiter at Nampak were under his leadership the share collapsed.
Recently there were media reports that a relative of Jabu Mabuza who recently resigned as CEO and Chairman of Eskom has received tenders worth R100 million and is in the running for maintenance tenders worth R10 billion
In March 2019 Minister of Public Enterprise, in principle allowed Eskom to procure maintenance contracts without adhering to stringent procurement processes. This was to ensure that the R50 billion available was spent.

This obviously opens Eskom to state capture
The question one has to ask is whether all these coincidences, decisions and actions which have been taken lately aren't some form of state capture.
