#OgoniCleanup commenced in January 2019, with 16 contractors moving to 21 sites across 4 Local Government Areas in Ogoniland, namely: Eleme, Tai, Khana and Gokana LGAs; following a handover by @HYPREPNigeria.
#NDNewVision #NigerDeltaCleanUp
The @NigeriaGov Maritime University in Delta State has since taken off (2018) and is now on full steam with over 1,000 students spread across 13 undergraduate courses in three faculties. #NDNewVision
The Nigeria Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State commenced full academic activities for 2017/2018 academic year in April 2018, with a total of 370 students across 13 undergraduate programmes in 3 Faculties, namely: Transport, Engineering and Environmental Management.
.@NigeriaGov’s Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) continues to engage ex-militants and youths in the Niger Delta in formal education, vocational skills acquisition and empowerment schemes, while creating jobs for beneficiaries. #NDNewVision
The Niger Delta is also benefitting from the Buhari administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure, including the 34km Bonny-Bodo road & bridges project across the Opobo channel, flagged off October 2017; and undertaken as a collaboration between @nigeriaLNG & @NigeriaGov.
The Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail line project, started in the 1980s, was completed by the @MBuhari Administration early in 2020, and is now ready for commissioning. The 327km rail line would handle passenger, commercial and freight services. #NDNewVision
The Federal Government is also in the process of developing sea ports in the Niger Delta, including Warri and Ibaka deep sea ports, among other development projects like the establishment of Export Processing Zones to boost economic activities. #NDNewVision
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is being repositioned for better delivery. Following the directive of President @MBuhari, the NDDC has since begun the audit and verification of projects and contracts across the nine Niger Delta States. #NDNewVision
Also, @NigeriaGov under Pres. @MBuhari is actively supporting the establishment of private modular refineries in the Niger Delta, to create jobs & economic opportunities in the communities where they are located, and contribute to domestic self-sufficiency in petroleum products.
So far, six modular refineries are currently at different stages of completion in the Niger Delta region. The refineries are located in six states in the Niger Delta: Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Bayelsa and Cross River. #NDNewVision
This includes the Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Refinery (NDPR), in Ogbele, Rivers State, which was refining at 1,000 bpd, and was recently upgraded to 6,000 bpd. #NDNewVision
