@ray_tubular People post 'how do I remove xx' lists fairly often if you check forums etc. Traditionally it was 'Mahjong' games (and people would try to insult MAME by calling it MAMJONG etc.) then as soon as we reintroduced Video Poker, those became the target of abuse.
@ray_tubular Non-English games / clones are often the target too, as are Korean / Chinese games people consider to be junk. In some circles the 70s arcades as they're "not real games"

Since the MESS merger it is of course any consoles that weren't popular, or stuff that isn't games..
@ray_tubular basically there's a large core of people who think that only popular stuff *they* care about should matter, and the inconvenience of having maybe half a gig of stuff they don't care about in a MAME set is too much, even if they could just ignore it.
@ray_tubular but that doesn't really stop the abuse, people claiming we're wasting our time emulating things, bloating MAME, slowing down MAME (neither being true) instead of doing what *they* want (eg. emulating the latest, most popular arcade games)
@ray_tubular but yeah, in the end the things they moan about us working on are a good indication of exactly what we should be working on, because anything attracting that level of hatred is clearly more *at risk* than something popular anyway.
