Chief Marcel Moody of Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation in Northern Manitoba is making a presentation about social assistance. He says an adult person living on reserve gets $310/month. He ponders about how people can live off of $10/day.
Chief Nelson Genaille of the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation presented earlier at the AMC Assembly. He presented on social development. He says we need to encourage youth to take on leadership roles. He says people don’t need titles like Chief or Councillor to take on a leadership role.

Two Northern Chiefs who presented at the AMC Assembly this afternoon are Chief Larson Anderson of Norway House Cree Nation & Chief Shirley Ducharme of O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation. The Chiefs are discussing a wide range of issues connected to social development in First Nations.

Chief David Monias of Pimicikamak Cree Nation delivered the final presentation of the day focusing on a regional approach to social development.
“We don’t need to wait for Canada to say this is our status card, we can develop our own,” he added at the end of his presentation.
