More criticism of my criticism of gitcoin grants results.

I actually didn't even realize that people were interpreting the grants as "backpay"; I was thinking about them as compensation for work done after round 3.
And even the comparison with ethhub was in that case wrong because ethhub got funds in round 3 whereas antipro did not.
But in general "Vitalik and other EF elites have wrong opinions about what kinds of work are valuable" is an argument that plays right into quadratic funding being great and very important 😅. Seems like the case is strong that QF grants are at the least valuable as a complement.

Thread: a geometric interpretation of quadratic voting.

Imagine representing a set of decisions on N issues as a point in N-dimensional space.
If each person has k voting tokens, we can represent their vote as a right to move the decision from the center of a radius sqrt(k) circle to a point of their choice along the edge. You can see this by pythagorean theorem: (dx)^2 + (dy)^2 = r^2 = k
Now, how would they vote? Zooming in enough, we can pretend preferences are linear, that is someone is trying to maximize ax + by + ..., where a,b are constants specific to them.

It's becoming increasingly clear to me that issues of identity are the main ground of disagreement between many in the crypto community and @RadxChange.

Thread:
First of all, by identity, I mean attempts to identify properties of the physical human being that controls a particular cryptographic key. A particular use case is the "unique human" problem, constructing a set of cryptographic keys that are each owned by a different person.
The usual cypherpunk view is: identity can be coopted by govts to oppress, coopted by corps to discriminate by nationality, violates privacy and is generally bad juju. When an ability to punish is required, we should instead use security deposits that get burned if you misbehave.

OK I am at like chapter 2 of "A Warning" by Anonymous, and the author says they decided to be anonymous because the writers of the Federalist Papers were at the time they wrote, and I am pretty sure the author is the senior official who dressed like the 1770s at inauguration.
Might turn this into a thread of things angering me about this book, like this person wants sympathy because Team Trump didn't expect to win, and turns out forming a transition team is super hard. Like, feel pity that we tried a con to waste everyone's time and boost resumes.
Plus, if you actually didn't want to win? Maybe say no to the FOREIGN GOVERNMENT OFFERING TO RIG IT FOR YOU? Just an idea.

On @sparrowwomen and @sista_theology: I’ve taken some time before adding my 2 cents to this conversation because I really do believe that being slow to speak is better than being quick to tweet. I wanted to process what I saw/heard/felt before communicating about it all.
As a speaker at Sparrow, I was in the audience during Ekemeni’s session. I was excited to listen in because the woman is smart as a whip, well equipped in the topic for which she was asked to speak, and she doesn’t mince words, ever. As she spoke, I had nothing but “Amens”
Because her content was true and thorough. I didn’t even realize that people were walking out during her session because I wasn’t paying attention to “them”. However, at some point I thought to myself ,”I wonder if they’re really HEARING what she’s saying.” Clearly,not many were.
