1988: Dropped out after plagiarism allegations

2008: Finished 5th in Iowa dropped out

2020: With universal name recognition after 8 years as VP, finishes 4th in Iowa
3. There is a RISK of Biden not being good at running for president.

Biden underperformed his polling in Iowa by 5%.

Will Biden supporters show up? Can he excite Democrats?

Because Trump supporters will show up.
4. Each candidate has risks.

There are no guarantees.

So let's not pretend there is a safe choice.

Everyone needs to make their case on the merits.

So, I ran across a retweet of the below tweet and it immediately raised flags. Puffing up a witness has a reason, so decided to go look for the documentation behind it, since it had a direct quote. Didn't take long - few minutes and NPR coughed it up (will link at the end)./1
About puffing someone up - the reason is to try to give the person credibility, their views more weight than they should be given, and to set them above someone they are in disagreement with. In this case, also to elicit support due to his medal./2
In the case of the tweet, it is immediately followed by the statement "speaking out against the command-in-chief." (you're suppose to gasp here I think)

Then "the reason" is given - people kept telling him he needed to speak up (be sure to ignore other possible reasons)./3

This has become a thing so let me address this in more detail.

First of all, I am sincerely fond of Joe Biden. He has had an amazing career of public service and he was an exceptional Robin to Obama's Batman.

But...

Joe Biden's political viability provides a near perfect real world contrast to @HillaryClinton.

And it provides a glimpse into the depths of hypocrisy and sexism that permeated the 2016 election from the primary straight through the general.

Biden's legislative record/personal history are far more centrist than Clinton's, though you'd never guess that if you listen to the types of questions he's asked or the ways he is criticized.

Biden's harshest critics are ofte.n more respectful than Clinton's kindest.
