@SCCTE1 @WSRAliteracy @SCforEd A key aspect of the larger education reform movement started in the 1980s and the current "science of reading" movement that isn't addressed as directly as it should be is that teachers are overwhelmingly women; edu legislation often negates professional autonomy for teachers 3/x

@SCCTE1 @WSRAliteracy @SCforEd The current "science of reading" movement wants to legislate reading practice for *all students* and thus supplant teacher expertise about what any students need

Issues such as reading, teacher pay, etc. are about honoring the professionalism of WOMEN
