Apparently people do not want creepy ads that follow us around wherever we go. Go figure. When adtech stopped bothering to camouflage the surveillance that’s when things started to go sour for the industry. People don’t care about privacy, they said.
The paradox of adtech: As soon as it “works” it triggers a backlash against it. Retargeting caused adblocking to surge. Facebook/Insta ads convinced people Zuck is eavesdropping on our conversations (Zuck swore under oath to the Senate they are not).
As long as Venable is running the show nothing will change. They exist to defend the status quo against the backlash. Don’t be fooled by their privacy initiative either. It offers no basic data rights when you look closely.
Everything thing you needed to know about the privacy death star that is adtech can now be fermented in your own foot stink.
