As of Tuesday, 20,704 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. While only 212 of those cases have occurred outside of mainland China, the downstream effects of the country’s outbreak could send the globe’s medical supply into chaos 1/ wired.trib.al/XTkbh8h
The problem starts with the world’s reliance on Chinese drug manufacturing. The country is the world’s largest producer of active pharmaceutical ingredients, and much of the US drug and medical supplies are made there 2/ wired.trib.al/XTkbh8h

Jonah, a Prophet that Hated God's Mercy for Humanity

The book of Jonah is a book to study over & over again.
Prophet Jonah is a typology of the Church, The type of central body representing the Church. Jonah is a TYPE of the General Overseer, a denomination, a congregation of believers who couldn't see why God should be merciful to humanity. Why should God show the same mercy to others?
A few things to ponder on:

1. Jonah is a Prophet who preached about repentance BUT was hooping that the people would not repent. Why then did he preach?

2. Jonah was not a Prophet because of the volume of prophecies released every year. Only one prophecy recorded for him.

Thread on my journey to a meat-based diet.

1) In summer 2019 I changed my diet. Now I eat mostly meat, plus dairy products except milk. Sometimes I eat cooked vegetables, mostly when eating outside. I only drink water, coffee low on caffeine, and alcohol.

2) After I reached about 27, I started noticing my stomach is not able to process any junk I put in it. Once or twice per year, I would get a mild form of acute pancreatitis. I would get diarrhea if I drink cold Coke after a meal.
3) Then it became worse, I could have diarrhea without obvious reasons. In general, the consistency of my stool was getting softer and softer. I also started noticing weird red dots on my legs, correlating with diarrhea and other stomach issues.

Recent case report published in @Nutrients_MDPI claims vegetarian #diet induced remission in Crohn’s disease and has been promoted as a “cure” by @gizmodo. (spoiler: there is no current cure for #IBD) 1/

The patient in this study had a colonoscopy which showed moderate Crohn’s disease. He was started on a biologic (infliximab) and “significantly” improved clinically but had ongoing symptoms (abdominal pain, fatigue, bloating). 3/

Al-Biruni as we all know, was a major Central Asian intellectual of his time born in present day Uzbek territory - a man who accompanied Mahmud Ghazni on his many raids in India between 1017 and 1030 CE
While Al Biruni was a man of many talents he is best remembered today for his account of India that he wrote circa 1030

Being Indians we have every right to be skeptical of Al Biruni’s writings. He was after all a Mleccha, and a companion of Mahmud - an infamous iconoclast.
But nevertheless, his book is a fairly thorough outsider’s view of North India as it existed circa 1020 CE and can give us great insights on what India was like just before the onset of Muslim influence
