THREAD
1/ The lobbying group Stonewall was once a champion of the gay and bisexual community.
Not any more.
It's now pursuing an extreme and unpopular trans agenda.
So who’s funding this unrepresentative group and how does its influence spread?
2/ Here’s a link to the most recent Stonewall accounts
stonewall.org.uk/about-us/stone…
This reveals Stonewall relies on taxpayers for much of its income.
And that’s not all
3/ Not only does Stonewall take our money to campaign for extreme changes in the law, which most women oppose, it encourages its “Diversity Champions” to accept its extreme manifesto
4/ Stonewall’s 2018 financial statement says its income was £8.7 million. It acknowledged around £0.6 million from government grants, but taxpayer support is much, much higher because many state-funded organisations give money in other ways. It won't say how much, but it's a lot
5/ Through its “Diversity Champions” scheme, it influences every aspect of government, including the Department of Education, plus GCHQ, MI5, MI6, the Scottish and Welsh governments, Goldman Sachs, 120 universities and colleges, most police and fire services…
6/ … most UK big businesses, the Bank of England and financial firms, investment banks, legal firms, government departments, local councils, major organisations like the National Trust and most Arts organisations. Plus the BBC, Channel 4, the Guardian and (gosh) the Telegraph
7/ The 820 "Champions" pay Stonewall and accept its guidance. Some is contentious. Stonewall says for example that “Transwomen are women”. But is someone with a penis a woman? Not according to 81% of the public, who either say no, or aren’t sure.
8/ Meanwhile, Stonewall helps write trans policies for organisations representing large swathes of the UK. Policies that most people don’t agree with. They want to introduce huge changes to our lives. And they want no discussion (see Rebecca Long-Bailey’s comments to Marr today)
9/ So a seemingly small charity is having a big, big influence, using taxpayer cash to press a radical, minority agenda. Just remember this when you’re told that any debate on this issue is “hate”.
10/ Only last week, a judge noted “how quickly some involved in the transgender debate are prepared to accuse others with whom they disagree of showing hatred, or as being transphobic when they are not.”
FINAL/ And perhaps ask your MP why everyone from Kellogg’s to the Post Office and the Army are going along with this?
(Huge thanks to @Docstockk, @HJoyceGender , @VictoriaPeckham and @bindelj and all the brave women who have refused to budge when bullied by extremists)
