1) Very interesting meta-analysis of the effects of goal setting on behaviour. Key point: setting goals increases the chances that someone acts in the desired way ($). insights.ovid.com/consulting-cli…
2) Two fascinating bits: If goals are set, adding other support (e.g. practice and rehearsal, feedback) seems to make very little difference.
3) And - contrary to Self-Determination Theory - it echoes Locke and Latham in finding that it makes no difference whether people set goals themselves, or others set goals for them.
