Disappointing to see such a prominent individual join the partisan crowd who, possibly with intentional malice, ridiculously confuse balanced analysis with being on the side of Brussels. And a good response from a good journalist, part of a strong UK team in Brussels.
That so unappetising Brexit view - that negotiations are akin somehow to conflict, and therefore all analysis should be skewed. But they aren't, and it matters for the UK that relations with the EU and Member States should be positive. That story needs to be told.
"Speak truth to power" as someone important similarly criticised said. And the truth is that both the EU holds more cards than the UK, and have done this sort of thing before. Doesn't mean we can't get a good result. But we won't by ignoring fundamentals.
And the always excellent @BastidonPauline has also taken Andrew Neil to task on regulatory freedom - we don't and won't have complete freedom never mind what happens in EU negotiations.
