Here is the DNC loyalty pledge that Bernie Sanders signed in 2019. He has declared himself a Democrat for this race and vowed to participate in the convention in good faith.

Here is rule IX.C.7.d of the DNC Convention Call, requiring a majority of delegates at the convention for the nomination.

Sanders is a party to these rules and is bound by them. He’s free to campaign and negotiate to get to a majority. But to claim that it would be undemocratic to deny him the nomination when he has only a plurality of support is *not* participating in good faith.
