Here is a politician from the BJP, India's ruling party which also controls Delhi Police, giving an ultimatum to the same Delhi Police saying that he and his people will not even listen to the authorities and will take the law into their own hands.
One video from today shows a police person in Delhi pelting stones along with a mob

@scroll_in The violence has reportedly led to the death of one police person.
@scroll_in "The men had faces smeared with saffron and were carrying rods and sticks. They chanted “Har Har Mahadev” and “Modi, Modi, Modi”, as they threw stones and bricks.

Further ahead, a police official said anti-CAA protestors had set a vehicle on fire." scroll.in/latest/954139/…
@scroll_in The ruling party BJP politician who gave an ultimatum to Delhi Police and threatened to take the law into his own hands has now, after the reported death of a police constable, tweeted out asking people not to resort to violence.
@scroll_in Home Ministry, under former BJP President Amit Shah, is putting out word through unnamed sources to journalists that the violence was "orchestrated" to coincide with Trump's visit to Delhi.

Where does BJP leader Kapil Mishra's ultimatum fit into this?
@scroll_in Indian Express is reporting that a civilian has died as well:

"A civilian named Mohd Furqan was killed during violence over CAA in northeast Delhi today. One police constable was also killed in the violence while 37 police personnel were injured." indianexpress.com/article/cities…
This video in particular, shows the Delhi Police *leading* stone-pelting by pro-government mobs.
A minister in the AAP-led Delhi government says he has been trying to get Delhi Police – which is controlled by the BJP-led national government – to intervene and make things safer in the capital. He claims that he is getting no response.
Meanwhile, police claim to have detained the man who was seen on video brandishing a gun right in front of a police person earlier in the day. They say his name is Shahrukh:
“Bhai, tu zyada uchhal raha hai. Tu Hindu hai ya Musalman? (Brother, you are acting very smart. Are you a Hindu or a Muslim?)” They threatened to take off my pants to confirm my religion." m.timesofindia.com/city/delhi/you…

"In the area commandeered by the Hindutva group, the most notable thing was the aura of festivity. A large group of people was shouting slogans, including ‘goli maaro saalon ko’. A man was carrying plates of upma, which he was giving the policemen." thewire.in/communalism/gr…
"(A Muslim's car which was parked on the road, was set on fire by Hindus. There was an auto which was also burnt. And the boards on shops that had 'Allah' written on them were also broken),” said a Hindu resident from Maujpur. thequint.com/news/india/gro…

"4 buildings were set ablaze by the mob that used torches, burning slippers and balls made of cloth. Each successful attempt at torching the buildings was met with loud claps and religious and political chants. Dozens of policemen around did nothing." hindustantimes.com/delhi-news/pro…
India's capital continues to seem lawless in some areas:
The mobs are beating up journalists
Videos and witnesses have pointed to a complete failure by the Delhi Police to contain the aggressors, a lack of sufficient forces despite clear signs that they would be needed and, in some cases, the active involvement of the police in the violence. scroll.in/article/954241…
Scroll.in reporters say that anti-Muslim mobs are checking journalists' phones for videos and deleting them/threatening reporters in Babarpur while carrying petrol bombs. scroll.in/latest/954244/…
Violent anti-Muslim mobs appear to be roaming freely in North East Delhi, with police either unwilling/unable to stop them – or complicit.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal – whose government isn't in charge of law & order in the capital, but whose party has also avoided saying much about the violence – takes his cabinet to the site of Gandhi's memorial as an "appeal" for peace

@scroll_in @thewire_in "A mosque in Ashok Vihar was set on fire late on Tuesday afternoon. A mob shouting “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hinduon ka Hindustan” paraded around the burning mosque, and a Hanuman flag was placed on top of the structure."

@scroll_in @thewire_in @Saurabh_Unmute @arvindgunasekar @MariyamAlavi "Across the bridge, to the left, is a Muslim mob, and to the right is a Hindu mob. There is stone pelting happening from both the sides... Nobody from either side wants to see the media. They are treating the media as one of the biggest enemies." caravanmagazine.in/conflict/media…
@scroll_in @thewire_in @Saurabh_Unmute @arvindgunasekar @MariyamAlavi "Members of the Hindu mob told me the stone-pelting had started first from the Muslim colonies in Maujpur and they merely retaliated. However, a visit through Jaffrabad, Babarpur and Maujpur indicated that the Muslim areas have suffered far more damage." caravanmagazine.in/religion/delhi…

@scroll_in @thewire_in @Saurabh_Unmute @arvindgunasekar @MariyamAlavi Now ANI has deleted the tweet claiming there are no shoot-at-sight orders, and said instead that there is a shoot-at-sight order in place, essentially a curfew.

Amazing communication from Delhi Police.
