Power turns race prejudice into racism. Racial prejudice becomes racism when one group's racial prejudices are enforced by the systems and institutions of a society.
SYSTEMIC POWER is the legitimate/legal ability to access and/or control those institutions sanctioned by the state. Power and privilege based on racial identity to the group in power, and limiting the power and privilege of the racial groups that are not in power is Racism
Racism socializes all of us into the racial rules and roles
This is racism's ultimate power to control and "racialize"

Unearned privilege is morally corrosive. Folks used to unearned privilege in inequitable systems fight to maintain the conditions they think they need to thrive.
Acknowledging you are the beneficiary of white supremacy culture is hard. It’s a fear of equity and a resistance to a narrative that doesn’t offer immediate absolution

White supremacy is fueled by a lack of agency and responsibility. We are Socialized to defend ourselves by denying our privilege and benefits. Racism claims explicit intention is necessary for it to exist-exonerating all who participate passively
Within United States culture we are labeled as individually responsible but only in ways that exhonerate systemic and institutional violence. This is to disempower and also to create a sense of hopelessness.
Proximity to whiteness does not protect you from racialized oppression

People of Color are collectivized. This is why white folks act like your calling them a slur when you identify them by race. It’s a resistance to being held accountable to the collective harm being done by white people.
White supremacy is the system. Racism is the by product.
The biggest trick to white supremacy culture is reframing basic rights into privileges that only some people get. It lowers the bar of basic rights for everyone.
Folks resist acknowledging their place in white supremacy culture thinking denial will erase bad impact. Like they aren’t responsible for what they do because they “didn’t know”. Willful ignorance is not innocence.
The way I define racism Black peoples can totally be racist...I think anyone can support white supremacy culture. In white supremacy culture “racism” can only refer to actions and beliefs that support white supremacy culture.
Dominant culture doesn’t want us to name white supremacy because that is the first step to dismantling it, so its defining racism as something unrelated to white supremacy. It broadens the definition until we aren’t referring to anything specifically
Someone asks what to do when folks use non-liberation definition of racism. Before we do any work we must acknowledge that assumption of non-liberation definition as dominant ideal is a function of white supremacy culture. So we must create shared definition and work from there.
Patriarchy couldn’t be dominant system if some women didn’t believe in, teach, and enforce it. The biggest trick of oppressive systems is teaching generations that that patriarchy, heterosexism, and white supremacy is natural, reasonable, and necessary for our collective success.
People act like by acknowledging they are part of white supremacy culture they are outing themselves as Nazis. By having a definition of “super racist” it somehow exonerates folks of being regular racist. It motivates them to deny their racism and resist acknowledging reality

Being in an equity diversity and inclusion workshop or anti racism training and having folks resist naming white supremacy culture is Like joining the volunteer fire fighter orgs and being uncomfortable with using the word fire.
Benefiting from a system means you are complicit even if you don’t desire it. You riding this roller coaster and our safety bars are different regardless of your intention.
Resisting anti-racism work is like avoiding the doctor. Our society is unhealthy but folks getting mad at the doctor giving the diagnosis.
Objectivity is a mythological framework to justify allegiance to dominant culture status quo assessments
Tokenism is representation without power.
White supremacy culture cannot exist without competition. It hoards resources and creates false scarcity and then invites people to fight each other instead of working together to change the system.
the language formulation and ideation behind white supremacy culture supports a narrative of justified white male domination. We all gotta Dramaturgically asses our socialization and flip the script. #callingup
