1. Love is the Best Way – Matthew 22:37–40 (NKJV); “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. #Love
2. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” #Love
3. Remember we have said that the principle of Rest began from Genesis 1, the story of creation; God worked for 6 days and rested on the 7th day. And from the biblical account, man, Adam and Eve were created on the 6th day. So the first day for man was the day of REST. #Love
4. Rest on God’s part is not being in a place of inactivity, it is finding alignment, ensuring that everything else that is done after which God did the foundational work of creation is in alignment with God’s plans and purposes. #Love
5. Jesus came and demonstrates what life is like when you are in alignment with God’s plans and purposes. Anything you do under the inspiration and direction of God, heavens backs it up – the results are beyond human capacity. That is what REST looks like. Hebrew 4:9. #Love
6. One major area where we need rest is in our relationships because one of the greatest dimensions of stress we experience has to do with relationships. The creation of man introduced the vertical and horizontal dimension of relationship – with God and with other men #Love
7. When you look at the Ten Commandments, it is about those two dimensions of relationship. So they asked Jesus which is the greatest commandment and he recommended the same two – first is our relationship with God and the second is our relationship with fellow men. #Love
8. Several years ago, my Pastor once said during his 50th birthday that, ‘my greatest joy has come from people and my greatest pain has come from people’. We were created for connection, not for isolation. #Love
9. If God had created Adam alone nobody will ever be offended because it will be Adam all alone by himself, but God said it is not good for a man to be alone, so the potential for conflict shows up. Mike Murdock said, ‘God gives you a family to prepare you for an enemy’ #Love
10. Whatever it is you will experience from people outside you are most likely to experience at home. In the family, you deal with people of other gender and temperament. God gives you your mum to prepare you for your wife; your dad to prepare you for your husband. #Love
11. In Genesis 3, right after sin enters the equation then problem shows up in the first family. So the big question is how do we experience rest in our relationships? How do we find alignment with God’s plans and purposes in our relationship? #Love
12. I would say let us apply the basic principle of rest in our relationship. So what is that basic principle of rest? Hear God and obey Him. #Love
13. To hear God you’ve got to have a relationship with him. If this thing is not going to be mechanical Christianity, and ultimately a religion that burns people out, then the hearing part has to be predicated on relationship. #Love
14. Communication is the life-blood of relationships. If you have a relationship with God, then you and God should be talking; then you won’t have a problem with the hearing part; then you can move on the obeying dimension. #Love
15. Back to Genesis 1, the principle of rest. What was the purpose of the Sabbath? I believe that the purpose of the Sabbath is to encourage and enable intimacy with God. #Love
16. One of the 5 love languages is quality time. God likes quality time. He enjoyed the fellowship with Moses that He called him up to a mountain and sustained him for 40 days. That is the principle behind the Sabbath – a quality time of intimacy between us and God. #Love
17. In Mark 1 from verse 35, the bible explained how Jesus would excuse himself very early in the morning to a solitary place to pray and spend quality time with God. God wants intimacy first then the communication can flow naturally from the intimacy. #Love
18. Moses discovered the power of intimacy with God. One would be intrigued by the depth of interaction between him and God in Exodus 3:11-14 (NKJV). Noah also is a classic example of those who discovered the secret of God through intimate relationship with God. #Love
19. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that your friendship with God will be deepened. When you and God are tight you will hear Him and obey Him and when you obey Him you will have rest, and miracles will literarily be happening in your life. #Love
20. John 15:9-10. If you really love God you will do what He wants you to do; you will want His plans and purposes fulfilled on earth; you will love and be passionate about the things of God just like David. David’s perspective was coloured by his relationship with God. #Love
21. Before the horizontal dimension of our relationship will work with other people, the vertical one has to work. Are you a God-lover? For us to enjoy rest we’ve got to love God with passion. Once we are done with that every other thing work out with ease – John 5:16-20. #Love
22. If you love God you will hear Him, when you hear Him, you will obey Him, when you obey Him your rest is guaranteed. #Love
23. I pray today for someone that rest has come in your career in the name of Jesus Christ. We should be God lovers and not God users. Where are the God lovers of our generation? Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG). #Love
24. I pray that anything that has been an obstruction between you and your quality and intimate relationship with God is removed in the name of Jesus. I prophesy that as you pursue God and seek an intimate relationship with Him, you will found God; God will speak to you. #Love
