The U.S./Taliban peace deal is a total farce. The Taliban will never live up to it. The Taliban is one thing: and insurgent Islamist movement. They see themselves as an Islamic emirate, and we know this. They'll continue to support terrorists to take the country back. +
We'll push on I'm sure, knowing full well that it's all for nothing. Sadly there's no choice here. We need to get out. We'll go back to how it was post Cold War... a small number of CIA/Intelligence assets on the ground, with SOF close by.
I guess I'm fine with that, but let's not pretend this is a peace deal that the Taliban will respect. They won't.
