Okay it’s my lunch break and Super Tuesday, and so I’m going to say why I support Elizabeth Warren so strongly.

It’s funny, because she was NOT my first pick at the start of the primary, but I’ve come to admire her more than any presidential candidate of my lifetime. Here’s why:
Elizabeth Warren seems virtually unique in the higher echelons of politics in that she seems to understand that power is temporary, prestige is ephemeral, and the reason you seek higher stations in life is to use them as tools for change.
When she was a professor, she fought her peers for bankruptcy protections for consumers. She took controversial views that alienated her among elite legal circles, but staying cozily within those circles wasn’t her goal.
As a senator, despite being a recent member of an institution that values seniority and comity above almost all else, she didn’t seem to hesitate to fight with members of her own party to achieve her policy ends.
I think those policy goals are good! But lots of people have good GOALS. What Elizabeth Warren has, and most people lack, is a mind that is constantly seeking ways to use the tools she’s got to make things happen. By hook or by crook, if you will. Always looking for an angle.
And remarkably the exact same mindset has permeated her campaign. She weighed in consumer financial issues from her presidential platform. She jumped in to chide party leaders who were reluctant to impeach Trump. She’s been trying to backdoor manage the coronavirus response.
This is who deserves power: someone who does not see power as something to hoard, but as a resource to expend for the advancement of good. Someone always looking for an angle, looking at the tools they’ve got, and saying “How can I use these to the utmost?”
I’m not sure we’ve ever had a president like that. And we’ve rarely needed one more.

I think it could revitalize the Democratic Party, make it a party that FIGHTS for things again. It could revitalize the nation, even.
So as long as Warren is in this thing - and I Hope dearly she fights to the end, looking for every angle, as is her wont - she’s got my full support. Only good can come from elevating this remarkable woman.
Obviously I’m aware of the delegate math, although the race is more fluid than people realize. I hope she can find a way to be the next president. But if not that, the next vice president. But if not that, attorney general. If not that, Secretary of the Treasury.
This is person who - and I don’t say this lightly - deserves an opportunity to help guide the nation. I hope we can find a way to deliver it.
I guess one more thing: these are tough tough times. The only way to stay alive is to have a plan A. And if that doesn’t work, have a plan B. And when that blows up, plan C. You just keep going until something works. Elizabeth Warren is the person who I think will keep going.
