A short thread on our @OnReality_Check investigation into gun violence in the Delhi riots. For context, a third of all those killed have died of bullet injuries. 97 have gunshot wounds (these figures could rise). Entirely unclear whether the police has traced the shooters. 1/n
We know of one shooter, Shah Rukh, who was arrested based on a viral video. But NDTV accessed two more videos of shooters, which do not seem to be on the police radar at all. ndtv.com/delhi-news/del… 2/n
One of those videos is a shocker: it shows a group of rioters atop a hospital, Mohan Nursing Home, one of whom fires a rifle into the crowd below (video in the above link). Does not appear to be on the police radar. 3/n 
In another video, CCTV footage shows a shooter in an alley in Brahmpuri in N.E. Delhi firing at a target outside the frame more than once. Unlike the nursing home shooter, his face is uncovered, as are those next to him. Yet, no apparent police probe. 4/n
Locals in Brahmpuri identified some of the men in the video as linked to a local strongman, Pandit Shankar Lal Gautam. Gautam admitted the men in the video were 'our boys' defending the mohalla from Muslims, but claimed they were using a water pistol! 5/n
Begs the question: if we could ID the men, and their 'mentor', why not the police? [Gautam denied any political influence, or linkage. From his FB page, however, his current political leanings are apparent.] -fin-
