Female activist campaign on West Papua issue (A Thread)

Little known that many female activists have a very significant contribution to the West Papua campaign for years. This ain't man domination.

And this is the right time to tell the story..

Long time ago after West Papua finally annexed by Indonesia through a fraudulent referendum, a woman name Yosepha Alomang had stood up against the giant gold mining company Freeport which occupied her village.
She becomes the Godmother of every activist campaign on West Papua until today. She won the pulitzer of environmental award tho goldmanprize.org/recipient/yose…
In modern time, more women joined the force, and this time the solidarity just went beyond the nationality and culture. Some of them are working as an activist, journalist, and human rights lawyer. They all are playing important roles.
I remember meeting Latifah Anum Siregar, an Indonesian, muslim, wearing hijab but she has been working hard to defend West Papuans who are facing face death penalty. indoblognet.com/latifah-anum-s…

Another woman from Flores also joined the force, first she was working for a church in highland of West Papua and then she initiated the first embrio of Papuan filmmaker group in Indonesia. Her film won an award. engagemedia.org/Members/emnews…
Many many women from outside and inside the island have contributed. Just to remind you that the chief editor of Tabloid Jubi-the largest newspaper in West Papua is a woman, she replaces Victor Mambor.
I can't tell how many Mama-Mama Papua have joined the protests. But it's clear that I have seen the rule of women have been increased at the frontline and it's something unsual. Especially when women in West Papua still struggling with being recognized in their tribe and culture.

There are still so many women activist in Papua, there is one women politician who was fighting along with the legend Theys Eluay but only Theys got the spotlight ofc 😕 The history need to recognize all these women I think.
