Last night, the “pro-life” governor of Alabama refused to intervene to stop the execution of a man on death row for three murders another man confessed to having committed entirely on his own.
Nathaniel Woods was put to death last night despite:
1) prosecutors acknowledging he did not commit the murders
2) the actual murderer confessing to have committed them entirely on his own
3) the actual murderer pleading for Woods’ death sentence to be stayed

And last but not least, the decision to sentence Woods to death was not unanimous.
The jury deadlocked at 10-2 in favor of the death penalty.
Over 30 non-unanimous death penalty verdicts have been overturned.
