Today's 4km commute:
Aggressive middle aged man driving aggressively at back wheel, revving engine, beeping, slapping outside of his car door bcoz I was cycling defensively to avoid being doored on my left, & to prevent him from close passing on the right on a narrow street 1/9

When confronted I asked him if he knew it was a 30km zone.. "was barely doing 25km.." Exactly I said, 30km is a limit not a target. I'm doing 25km, hang back, wait, have patience before you kill someone.. "But ur in the middle of the road.." I am & with good reason I said.. 2/9
The driver's needless aggressiveness continued. Another male passing by started heckling me. "Just ignore him..He's doing nothing wrong.." Are u blind to aggressive behaviour or are u just indifferent to it as it doesn't effect you? Should I just accept abuse from angry men? 3/9
Should I refuse to stand up for myself & go through life accepting angry men abusing me for no reason? "That's not what I said, ur blocking the road.." There was no other occupied car, just 1 aggressive man banging away on his horn. If I was male, would 2nd male have heckled? 4/9
Aggressive driver speeds off almost crashing into an oncoming car. Now I'm 2km away, cycling straight, going approx 20-25kph. Taxi driver pulls in on me without indicating. Parked car ahead. Im banging the front passenger window. Now rear window. Elderly male eventually stops 5/9
Seemed puzzled as to why I'm there. Do you not have indicaters, mirrors, eyes? "I'm always so aware of cyclists.." So why didn't you see me? Driver starts a rant about ppl who cycle.. Are you responsible for other drivers? "No." So why talk to me about other ppl who cycle? 6/9
You're responsible for your own actions. Stop deflecting away from your inattentive and dangerous driving. What you did there was dangerous and you could've killed me (apart from running me off the road, I was almost forced into the back of an illegally parked car) 7/9
Irish roads are getting worse.
Car centricity (culture of #bloodycyclists) coupled with blasé attitude towards real rd safety (not @RSAIreland #hiviz fetish campaigns), & the sheer inaction by @CharlieFlanagan @GardaTraffic almost killed me. It already killed a man in Cork today

My work colleagues call me crazy for cycling, but it's the fastest, cleanest, cheapest and most sustainable way to get from A to B. It shouldn't be this dangerous. I'm about to cycle to the gym & the shops. I hope I make it there and back alive #allocate4cycling #Dublin #ireland
