In light of #AWP2020 and their sudden willingness of accommodate peoples' desire to telespeak, I'm sharing this piece @karriehiggins and I wrote a while back when they SCOFFED at such a request:

@karriehiggins Karrie has already tweeted about this issue on here, go read about it. I just wanted to point out how much it hurts to see this issue embraced now, when it was such a (ridiculous) hurdle then.

Hi everyone. I'm a writer. I'm also a scientist with a training in microbiology and virology.

I've just decided to skip #AWP this year.

1) The risk for me personally is very *very* low. That's not what this is about.
2) There are high risk people in my communities, though, and I don't think we can just imagine that "only X and Y people die of this so it isn't a problem."
3) It appears we are at the beginning stages of community transmission in the US.

Back in 1947, the princely Khanate of Kalat roughly corresponded to modern Balochistan

An interesting tidbit -

As per VP Menon, Kalat approached India for accession in Jan 1948, which India refused, following which Kalat acceded to Pakistan!

Here's VP Menon -
This was later denied by India. With Nehru clarifying in somewhat ambiguous language that no such accession request came from Kalat

But I guess there is no mountain without a molehill, and it's possible an accession request was made

It's on everyone's lips.

Two crazy Trump tweets at the weekend added the idea that the deadly "Arkansas flu" may have surfaced again. This latest case took out Epstein in a 'secure' Manhattan Jail.
2. Distraction is everywhere!

The topics that distracts us matter little to evil forces. All that matters is that we ARE distracted.

Like a cow chewing our cud, they want us mindlessly processing our feed, without logical thought.

But, we are moving beyond distraction.
3. Epstein is a great example to learn from, because the news went completely nuts! 🤪

The Queen took a ride to Church with Prince Andrew.

Look at their joy and normal behaviour, just like us...
