OK - I know I think some people's perception of the current state of play is twisted by their long term deep dislike of JC. They probably think the same in reverse of me and others. So let's set that to one side, if we can & see what we might agree on...

I presume (1/12)
everyone has read the original article: Corbyn: Brexit would go ahead even if Labour won snap election

theguardian.com/politics/2018/…

Therefore I presume everyone went (2/12)
beyond the subbed sub title and read this:

'As to what stance Labour would take if a referendum were held, Corbyn said, “it would be a matter for the party to decide what the policy would be; but my proposal at this moment is that we go forward, trying to get a customs (3/12)
union with the EU, in which we would be able to be proper trading partners.” '

Are we agreed that current party policy is to pursue Brexit due to respecting the vote etc? In other words as JC says in the interview he cannot unilaterally change party policy... "Corbyn (4/12)
underlined the fact that he cannot set Labour’s policy unilaterally, saying: “I’m not a dictator of the party.”" as the article says

JC said he voted remain in the referendum. I believe him.

Most of us want the UK to remain in the EU - but we currently disagree on (5/12)
how to plot the course to get there. So let's see if we can agree the following or not:

In a three line whip, I fear that the Tory remain 'rebels' would not end up voting for a further referendum in primary legislation because it is so emphatically against tory party (6/12)
policy

If a couple did - this would be counterbalanced by Labour Brexiteers, DUP & the continued absence of SF (although they probably want the whole caboodle to go pear shaped as this would advance a united Ireland)

Moreover, it is constitutionally questionable as (7/12)
to whether an amended finance bill (a route being pursued - as primary legislation is required to have a peoples vote) could pave the way for a further referendum...

Are we agreed that the Tories, MSM and probably a few (a lot?) Labour MPs desparately want Brexit to (8/12)
become all about Labour - so that the party can be detached from (currently) leave supporting Labour voters in the North.

Are we agreed that the Tory core would not risk Brexageddon - leave with no deal? At the very least Parliament would step in to prevent this by (9/12)
suspending article 50. But then what?

Either the issue is kicked into long grass with a "people's commission" (as happened in Ireland I understand) and probably culminating in a further referendum in say 2 years. Or we have a #peoples vote by the Sumner (having elected (10/12)
a new crop of MEPs) where the choice is likely to be May's deal or Remain. (Where Labour would campaign to Remain surely)

Right now we are in the middle of multi layered game of poker, chess & glass beads mixed with our unwritten constitution, Christmas and an (11/12)
unprecedented situation. In these circumstances - I choose to defer to judgements of Jeremy, Kier & others who are in the centre of this maelstrom
(12/12)
