A piece of mine was quoted in the @mailandguardian by a South African history professor making a point about what Bernie could learn from black South Africans. It’s an interesting argument.

mg.co.za/analysis/2020-…
The money line to me: “Many black people aspire to more inclusive capitalism, not less of it. Economic power is seen as the path out of white oppression”
Now, while I am far from rich, I have enough money that, when I was broke I thought that getting as much money (and Harvard degrees) as I have now would “buy me out of oppression.”
It did not. It does not. Money does not make the white man leave you alone.
Maybe wealth does. I dunno. WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT. But I can’t say.

Point is: *I* don’t think I just need a little bit more capitalism to achieve my goals for freedom. But I understand people who do.
The point of this article is that Bernie (and progressives generally) needs to understand black people who do want capitalism to defeat racism.

It’s what a lot of people have been saying: he needs an argument for racial justice that is *not* just about money and class.
