I keep getting this one, but I'm always putting it off. Let's try #TenThingsAboutProcrastination. Follow the hashtag to collect them all!
1. We've all been there. We want to write, but other distractions get in the way, and we find ourselves putting it off. Don't beat yourself up: but here are some ways in which you can help yourself. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
2. Plan ahead. Like regular exercise, writing regularly is something that comes with practice. Set aside your writing time, and get into a manageable routine. If you can make writing a habit, you're much less likely to miss a session. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
3. Find a support group or a writing buddy. It's a lot harder to procrastinate if you feel you're letting someone else down. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
4. Ask yourself why you're procrastinating in the first place. Are you asking too much of yourself? Are your high expectations making you dread writing? Setting yourself easier and more achievable tasks will help take off the pressure.#TenThingsAboutProcrastination
5. Have you fallen out of love with your project? Take the pressure off yourself by writing something else for awhile. You may find that a little time apart will reignite your passion. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
6. Are you too easily distracted? Find yourself a quiet workspace. Leave your phone behind; turn off the internet, go to a place with no wi-fi. Don't try to write straightaway; just sit and think about your project. It will come. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
7. Are you more attracted by the idea of *being a writer* than you are by the actual writing? If you're really having problems with procrastination, it could be that you're just not enjoying your writing enough to find the time. Ask yourself why. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
8. Are you simply too stressed to write? Practise self-care. Deal with the cause. The symptoms will go away in time. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
9. Is there something else you'd rather be doing, or are you just frittering time away? If there's something you'd rather do, then do it. Get it out of your system. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
10. If you're just frittering, then maybe you need to take back control of your time. Give yourself a deadline. Sometimes, a little pressure can really help you to focus. #TenThingsAboutProcrastination
