Hi folks, meet Bottlerocket, an open-source (Linux-based) operating system purpose built for hosting containers github.com/bottlerocket-o…
Bottlerocket encapsulates lessons that we (and our customers and partners) have learned over the past 5 years or so from running containers at scale. Bottlerocket focuses on security and maintainability and shines when you couple it with a container orchestrator.
Bottlerocket as an API that you can use for configuration github.com/bottlerocket-o…
and a cool update mechanism github.com/bottlerocket-o…
Bottlerocket is written in #rustlang (which we love here at AWS) and is open source. It's still in preview and there's a lot more to come. For now we support AMIs on EC2 and have tested it with EKS. Read more on the launch blog aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/bott… and on Github.
Take it for a spin and let us know what you think. We welcome pull requests and issues. As you can probably tell we are super excited by this launch (right @ilianathewitch?).
