A global crisis sure has a way of highlighting the cracks in our system:
1. Uninsured migrants in Canada denied care at emergency rooms can not be screened.
2. People experiencing homelessness living in crowded shelters can not 'self-isolate' #Covid_19

3. People living in poverty cannot hoard household goods in the event of self-quarantine
4. People working low wage precarious jobs without paid sick days cannot afford to stay home when they're sick #Covid_19

Maybe we can use this as an opportunity to think about why true universal healthcare, affordable housing, living wages, and decent work should be the foundation of our society. If not out of community concern, maybe self-interest will be the motivation we need. #Covid_19

Think of who is unable to engage in 'social distancing' to #FlattenTheCurve and you will again see our society's ills:
-Indigenous ppl on reserves in overcrowded housing
-Immigrant families forced into small quarters
-People who are incarcerated
-Migrants in detention

-People w/ mental illness living in boarding homes
-People in shared accommodations due to poverty
-Migrant farm workers
-People experiencing homelessness in shelters
