@annfurek @medit8now @RlcAka @CherylAWilkers2 The point to keep in mind, IMO, is to remember that as a problem to be solved, just looking at voting as a systemic function to be implemented, w clear goals and a few axiomatic principles to adhere to (privacy of the vote, open to all citizens, etc) it is not a Hard Problem.
@annfurek @medit8now @RlcAka @CherylAWilkers2 2/ To Not solve it is to be either so extraordinarily incompetent or willfully attempting to do something other than solving the specific need w a competent solution.

For ex: The "Requirements Definition" of some of these jurisdictions seems to have the clause, hidden or
@annfurek @medit8now @RlcAka @CherylAWilkers2 3/ sometimes not so hidden, to suppress voting for those classes of citizens that are deemed unworthy, or perhaps just a threat to the operating power structure.

To implement a voting system that masks as being open and solving the essential function of gathering the votes
@annfurek @medit8now @RlcAka @CherylAWilkers2 4/ of the citizenry without regard to predefined political outcomes - a relatively simple function to implement - but actually include/hide the filter of "but not All people, just "our" people" ... that is harder to do.

Sometimes you have to simply come out & acknowledge it
@annfurek @medit8now @RlcAka @CherylAWilkers2 5/ as was done by state legislators in N.Carolina. (& elsewhere). Mostly we see it in the actual implementation of the voting systems. Long lines and difficult procedures for the unwanted, straightforward & easy for the "acceptable".
@annfurek @medit8now @RlcAka @CherylAWilkers2 6/ Take it as a maxim, or a hypothesis for research: if there are voting problems as is happing in Ohio, but also in Tx, NC, Wisconsin and elsewhere, be sure that there are other outcomes that are being implemented than what otherwise would be a simple & straightforward process.
