So I braved the grocery store this morning, and thought we should start posting shopping experiences so people around the country can get an idea about how it is. I'm using #PandemicShopping but if you know of another hashtag doing this, tell me and I'll repost with it 1/
I'm in east Contra Costa co. in CA. I went at 8:00am when they opened. There was a line to get in. They have cops at the door limiting the number of customers at a time. By the time I got out at about 9:15, the line was much shorter, so going right at opening may not be best 2/
There is no food shortage. The shelves were stocked this morning. Plenty of fresh produce and meat. Bread. Canned & packaged foods. And milk, expecially if you like chocolate. Toilet paper is still picked through, but it's available. As is bottled water 3/
They're limiting eggs here to 1 carton per customer. My wife sent me for 18, and there were few 18-count cartons left, for obvious reasons. But plenty of 12-count. Also, flour is still picked through, although the more expensive stuff is available. 4/
Observations: Smart-shopper Mom, during a pandemic, you really don't need to put your mitts on every bell pepper in the bin. Also, people are trying to maintain social distancing by not elbowing up to get a pepper while you're making up your mind. So pull the trigger already. 5/
This goes double for Guy-Who-Can't-Decide-Which-Can-Of-Pringles-To-Get. The are literally all the same, dude. Pay attention to the world around you. 6/
Also, I understand that some people have no choice but to bring their kids, and I wish you all nothing but the best. But if Mom & Dad are both at the store with the kids, you're doing the pandemic wrong. 7/
Finally, limiting the number of people in the store makes the checkout lines shorter, so there's a silver lining. Also, god bless everyone who's working at these stores and maintaining a positive, friendly, helpful attitude. You people are heroes 😀 8/8
