@SenSherrodBrown @ewarren I don’t know if you ever see this but I beg you to fight for more action on student loan debt. Focusing solely on federal student loans will not make this large impact you think it will. #COVID19
@SenSherrodBrown @ewarren many people like myself have private loans because before the crash of 2008 that’s all we could get to go to school. I was the first person in my my family to go to college @OhioState #COVID19
My family didn’t make enough money to pay for my school but we didn’t qualify for any federal grants or help. So I took loans out to pay for nursing school. Each year @OhioState sent me notices my tuition would keep going up.
So I had to take out enough to keep going. And it’s incredibly difficult to work enough to pay to live and complete all requirements for nursing school. So the loan me keep adding up #COVID19
I have been paying on my loans for nearly 14 years and will keep paying them because most the payment goes to interest and not the principal loan amount. Predatory companies such as @Navient absorb loans from other lenders
Leaving us little opportunity to defer payments during economic hardships such as what we are all experiencing now. I used up my deferment time during my unpaid FMLA that I had to use for maternity leave because we have no #PaidLeave for moms
Keep in mind I was a federal employee at the time. So I got nothing despite being severely sick with hyperemesis gravidarum. #COVID19
But I digress...So people are complaining that student loan debt relief will not do anything... let me tell you it is one the single easiest and fastest ways to stimulate the economy. But you cannot focus only on federal loans.
Everyone who has tried to do the right thing and get an education like I did (and maybe even go back for a graduate degree) needs help now more than ever. I’m a nurse. We don’t get raises. We don’t get cost of living raises
Our wages like so many others remain stagnant while it becomes exponentially more expensive to live. If one person in my family gets sick enough to require hospitalization and e don’t have the money to pay the deductible.
Cancelling all debt right now is a long-term multi generational investment that will help not only with finances of average Americans like myself, but mental health and well being that is cracking under pressure right now.
If the government can afford to waste $1.5 trillion on Wall Street during a time of many unknowns y’all can absolutely step up and bail the American people out. @ewarren @SenSherrodBrown #BailOutThePeople #COVID19 #NowIsNotTheTimeTo
@ewarren @PattyMurray @SenSherrodBrown I am begging on behalf of all the people who are literally one healthcare crisis away from bankruptcy fight for the people. This plan is not enough. #BailOutThePeople #CancelEverything #COVID19
@ewarren @SenSherrodBrown right now we need hope that someone is fighting for us. The 1% are continuing to hailed their wealth and the rest of the people could disappear and it’s like it wouldn’t even matter as long as they saved their bank accounts. #COVID19
