The idea that you should suppress information to calm markets isn't based on any economic theory I know about. So is this just an attempt to avoid bad news cycles, sort of like the delays in Covid-19 testing? 2/

And let's remember both that Trump and other Rs constantly accused the Obama administration of falsifying economic data and that right-wing conspiracy theories usually involve projecting what they have done or would do 4/
I really don't know. But this sure looks as if the people who played down a health crisis are gearing up to play down the economic crisis that their earlier neglect caused 5/
