$1200 check is going to do WONDERS for me. $800 is immediately going to my small business LLC tax and then i’ll be drunk with power with $400.
And because the $1200 is taxable I’ll probably be in the hole. Thank you DC!
Woe is me isn’t a good look but this is good case study as to how completely insufficient this bill is. My business lost approximately 20% of subscribers. I’m not going to be able to use any of this stimulus money to help with that.

Reading the Mueller report for the first time in months. It wasn't broad enough.

I think they did a good job but I suppose the Russian contacts were so vast that it was impossible to include them all.

Italy accepted Russian supplies and they were all broken and had to be thrown out, but I guess we can give Putin a propaganda victory lap. Gross.
This is also a national security nightmare. Are Russian soldiers on the plane(s)? Are we inspecting the equipment for potentially harmful materials?
The dictator of Russia is a KGB thug who unleashed a chemical weapon attack in ENGLAND in 2018. He isn’t to be trusted.

What is the drive to lobbying for TFW? An opportunity to lower the minimum wage. TFW are paid less than domestic counterparts, Canadian citizens.

Attached is a link to a video and text from today's Lisa LaFlamme interview with Andrew Scheer. A few things stand out. He refers to the need for fiscal flexibility. We already have it and it's measured by our debt-rating, which is Triple-A (the highest). /2 #cdnpoli #elxn43
2/ Mr. Scheer refers to fiscal messes having been left. On the contrary, our fiscal situation has continued to improve over the last four years. The cost of servicing our federal debt has plummeted from 15.3% of expenses in 2006-7 to 6.6% in 2017-8. /3
3/ Mr. Scheer refers to public transit. Bringing back the public transit non-refundable boutique tax-credit will do nothing for public transit ridership. It didn't last time. He does plan to cut infrastructure spending and that *will* undermine investment in public transit. /4

Here’s a little lesson in business registration for my US and Jamaican followers:

Most US companies are gusteres in Delaware because it has the most favourable laws for businesses AND “has a separate Court of Chancery to hear cases involving corporate law”

No corp taxes either

Jamaica is nothing like the USA.

I can register in a different state and do business across each state with certain registrations and/or licenses. The USA is a union of individual states.
Most entrepreneurs setup an S Corp or an LLC in their home state, mine is Florida (no personal income taxes so a pass-through entity is preferred and we have Homestead Exemption too).

But that is just at the startup phase to keep over head low.

1/It’s possible that tariffs might actually “work” in cases like Apple (tons of cash to repatriate & enough scale to run an automated US factory). But man, it’s going to devastate small business.

Ex: avg auto parts brand does 7% EBITDA. 25% increase in COGS and you’re dead.
2/The price difference for fully-automated manufacturing in US vs China at large scale isn't that bad. But at low volume (say, 500-2000 units a year, which is actually 'high volume' for a small business), price difference can be 5-10x - if you can find someone to make it at all.
3/This means that small businesses just have to keep buying from China, but now the small business is paying a 25% tax. They can't absorb that (see #1), so they increase prices. Total consumer discretionary is ~fixed, so power just consolidates to fewer, larger firms.
