All of education is on a spectrum:
Teachers - from those who are currently still delivering 5 live lessons a day to those taking a pause to work out the best way forward for online learning (possibly a pause imposed by a current need to unexpectedly care for dependents)
1/
Parents - from those working back to back shifts to keep the brilliant NHS going to those that find themselves at home working back to back shifts to cover the childcare they no longer have whilst trying to learn how to work from home and support their children
2/
Students - from those who have easy access to a device each with the motivation required for online learning to those who have no device, no internet and are wondering where their next meal might come from, or are just experiencing anxiety about all the changes to routines
3/
There's no right or wrong place to find ourselves on the spectrum. It will take time to find a new 'normal', and when we return to school we will face the challenge of meeting the needs of all learners in our classroom based on their experience of their time spent away from us
4/
We will adapt and we will overcome the challenges presented to us because, as the last few days have shown, that's what the teaching community does. But whilst we're here let's show understanding and kindness to each other, and continue to consider workload and wellbeing
5/
My school and the MAT that I work for have got this exactly right thanks to #ethicalleadership and an ability to prioritise what is important right now, whilst still considering the wide range of situations that colleagues, parents and students currently find themselves in
